COLOGNE, Germany, June 18, 2014 – Stunning two-tone looks? Check.

A punchier, 140 PS version of the acclaimed 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine? Yep.

Stiffer suspension, new gear ratios and specially tuned steering. All standard.

Meet the new Ford Fiesta Red Edition and Fiesta Black Edition — two new Fiestas that combine

head-turning looks, unexpected performance and excellent fuel efficiency.

Available to order now and in dealerships from September, the Fiesta Red Edition and Black

Edition will be the most powerful 1-litre volume production cars ever. In point of fact, the new

140 PS version of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost offers more power per litre than the Bugatti Veyron and

the Ferrari 458 Speciale.

Inspired by global fashion trends for strong colour contrasts, the two-tone models are available

in Race Red, complemented by gloss black roof and detailing; and Panther Black, with a gloss

red roof and detailing.

"These two new Fiestas make an unquestionably bold statement on the road and will give

drivers an equally distinctive experience behind the wheel with a sportier version of our 1.0-litre

EcoBoost and enhancements to the Fiesta's acclaimed ride and handling," said Roelant de

Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe.

Going by the pictures and general 'funkiness', this occurs to me as Ford's take on the DS3 and such. While all the marketing crap is, as you'd expect, fucking awful, it's a cool-looking little car. I'd have one. I'd be even more into the idea if they were to make a few of the styling options - the 'lipstick' and alternately coloured roof - available in an online configurator for the ordinary Fiesta.

The red one looks less garish (how often can you say that?), but I'd be cool with that as a baby ST. The only problem is, it's only £1000 cheaper than a real ST. Unless I was already stretching myself, I'd go the extra grand and get the real deal.

Here's a First Drive review by Pistonheads .

I like the DS3, it's very finky but not sure if either appeal to me with the red accents.

If I were buying a DS3 - which I wouldn't, because I learnt to drive in one, and it'd just feel weird - I'd probably get it in black and yellow, but then, I make absolutely no claim to having anything resembling taste.

Of the two the red with black accents looks much better than the black with red accents.

Most colours are complimented with black where black is not as open to compliments from other colours.
